Automobile market shows positive momentum

Geopolitical shifts boost tanker demand

Tariffs and political upheaval remain a concern for times ahead

The PCTC (Pure Car, Truck Carrier) market continues to show positive momentum, with vehicle production and exports increasing across key regions. In Japan, both production and exports grew in January, driven by strong demand, especially from North America. China also saw a rise in production, supported by solid domestic sales and steady export volumes. European exports from Japan declined, however, reflecting shifting trade patterns. Meanwhile, geopolitical uncertainty remains, as President Trump has renewed threats of a 25% tariff on European car imports, which could impact future trade flows.

Steel cutting at the yard: ECO-Star construction going as planned!
On the new building front, we are pleased to share exciting news from the yard – the steel cutting for the third of our four PCTCs, ECO-Star, took place on February 28, 2025. This marks a key milestone in the construction of ECO-Star (hull number H580) and confirms that the project is progressing on schedule. With this step completed, the vessels are now moving into the next phase of their build, bringing us closer to delivery.
