Siden slutten av februar har VLCC-, Suezmax- og LR2-\/Aframax-tonnasje i all hovedsak ikke kunnet passere, samtidig som fraktkostnadene p\u00e5 sentrale ruter ut av Midt\u00f8stenbukta steg fra rundt USD 3 per fat ved \u00e5rets start til om lag USD 11 per fat.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Inntjeningen i Atlanterhavet har skutt i v\u00e6ret etter at Gulf-ratene beveget seg til niv\u00e5er langt over det som var realistisk \u00e5 slutte<\/strong><br \/>Baltic Exchanges VLCC-indeks for MEG\u2013Kina steg til USD 424 000 per dag, noe som markerer en all time high. Disse niv\u00e5ene ble derimot i stor grad vurdert som ikke sluttbare, ettersom reell transitt gjennom Hormuz i praksis ikke var mulig. Samtidig ble rundt 6\u20137 % av den globale r\u00e5oljetankerfl\u00e5ten i praksis bundet opp i Midt\u00f8stenbukta, samtidig som deler av volumene ble lagt om til alternative ruter, noe som reduserte tilgjengelig tonnasje og st\u00f8ttet ratene i de aktive markedene.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Bedring i de diplomatiske signalene mot slutten av m\u00e5neden, men den strukturelle st\u00f8tten i markedet best\u00e5r uavhengig av utfallet<\/strong><br \/>En vurdering fra Defence Intelligence Agency tydet p\u00e5 at Iran kunne holde passasjen stengt i \u00e9n til seks m\u00e5neder. Samtidig bedret de diplomatiske signalene seg mot slutten av mars, da Trump uttalte at samtalene hadde v\u00e6rt \u00absv\u00e6rt produktive\u00bb, som igjen ble reflektert i en midlertidig pause i angrep mot iransk energiinfrastruktur. En gjen\u00e5pning vil kunne normalisere ratene p\u00e5 Midt\u00f8sten-rutene, men den bredere effekten p\u00e5 markedet ventes \u00e5 vedvare.
