Flere laster g\u00e5r n\u00e5 via Kapp det gode h\u00e5p fremfor Panamakanalen, noe som \u00f8ker seilingstiden betydelig og binder opp skip over lengre perioder. Dette har redusert tilgjengelig tonnasje og bidratt til at VLGC-spotratene har mer enn doblet seg siden stengningen av Hormuz.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Ratene holder seg sterke, men Hormuz er n\u00f8kkelen<br \/><\/strong>Med f\u00e5 ledige skip tilgjengelig og h\u00f8y aktivitet blant chartererne, er det lite som tyder p\u00e5 at tilbudssiden vil l\u00f8sne vesentlig p\u00e5 kort sikt. Den st\u00f8rste usikkerhetsfaktoren for dagens ratemarked er en eventuell gjen\u00e5pning av Hormuzstredet. Dette vil redusere seilingsdistansene og dermed svekke noe av tonn-mile-premien som har st\u00f8ttet ratene de siste m\u00e5nedene. Samtidig vil en gjen\u00e5pning kunne f\u00f8re til en betydelig \u00f8kning i eksportvolumene fra Midt\u00f8sten. En stor del av volumene som har falt bort som f\u00f8lge av stengningen, har ikke blitt fullt ut erstattet av \u00f8kt eksport fra USA. Tilbakevendingen av disse volumene vil derfor \u00f8ke den totale transportettersp\u00f8rselen og trolig kompensere for den negative effekten fra kortere seilingsdistanser.
