European Maritime Finance (EMF) names 4 new LR2 tankers on the same day with Daehan Shipbuilding in Korea

South Korea, January 13th 2025 – Daehan Shipbuilding and European Maritime Finance (EMF) celebrate the name giving of EMF’s latest LR2 115,000 DWT tankers with long term partner Atlas Maritime. The ceremony was held at the Daehan Shipbuilding Yard.

In the shipping industry, a “name giving ceremony” is the official event where a vessel is named and introduced. It is a traditional occasion that often includes the symbolic breaking of a champagne bottle against the vessel’s hull to bring good luck. The ceremony typically involves the ship’s godmother, representatives from the shipping company, and other guests, marking the vessel’s readiness for service.

The vessel names are Stavanger Star, Oslo Star, Copenhagen Star and Athenian Star, hull numbers 5090, 5091, 5092 and 5093. All vessels will be IMO A rated, ECO class.

The event was a major success attended by the company partners, investors, Clarkson’s, bankers and associates.

“European Maritime Finance is proud of our long-term partnerships with Daehan Shipbuilding, Atlas Maritime and Clarkson’s to deliver these state-of-the-art vessels that meet high standards of sustainability and innovation” commented Martin Haugaard, Founder, Chief Executive Officer (Schweiz) AG and Chairman of the Investment Committee.

Congratulations to the new crews and the vessel Godmothers.
